Velma Hubbell, 90

Celebration of life service for Velma L. Hubbell, 90, Marengo, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. She died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo.

Burial was in the South English Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rose Haven Nursing Home or Hospice of Compassus, Cedar Rapids.

Velma Louise Hubbell was born Sept. 7, 1924, near What Cheer, the daughter of William and Hannah (Jones) Campbell.

She married Leonard William Hubbell Jan. 26, 1943, in Lancaster, Mo. She enjoyed gardening, canning and visiting with family and friends.

Hubbell is survived by five children, Rose Louise Cheney, Coralville; Gloria Hahn, Oskaloosa; Melinda (Robert) Kochuyt, Marengo; Terry Hubbell, Hiawatha, and Jeff Hubbell, Victor; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Hubbell, Parnell; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents; one son, Albert; two sons-in-law, Larry Cheney and Earl Hahn; two brothers, Robert and Lewis, and one sister, Doris Grover.
