Harvey Huedepohl, 90

Funeral service for Harvey A.A. Huedepohl, 90, Williamsburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Millersburg. He died May 16, 2015, at Colonial Manor, Middle Amana.

The Rev. Paul Nus will officiate at the service.

Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy.

Memorials may be made to Lutheran Interparish School, Williamsburg, or Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy.

Harvey August Albert Huedepohl was born Nov. 27, 1924, at rural Conroy, in Iowa County, the son of Rudolph and Katharina Teggatz Huedepohl. He was baptized Dec. 28, 1924, and confirmed April 2, 1939, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy.

He graduated from Hilton High School, Conroy, in 1943. He worked as a farm hand before going to the Army. He entered the U.S. Army March 15, 1945. He and brother Vic, who was in the Navy, met overseas in Thailand. He was discharged from the Army Dec. 24, 1946, with Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Technician 5th Grade – Philippines.

He married Esther Trimpe Jan. 31, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead. They farmed near Homestead and Millersburg and moved to rural Williamsburg in 1951. He was employed at Amana Refrigeration from 1966 to 1990.

He enjoyed farming, bowling, cutting wood and reading the paper at Arby’s. He had resided at Colonial Manor, Middle Amana, since June 2013.

Huedepohl is survived by two daughters, LaMar (Keith) Stanerson, Conroy, and Vida (Jim) McCoy, Otley; two sons, Neal (Teresa) Huedepohl, Conroy, and Bruce Huedepohl, Williamsburg; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Huedepohl, Iowa City; one sister, Neva Norris; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, in 2009; one son, Glenn, 2004; his parents; two sisters, Dorothy, in infancy, and Marlene Stevens, and two brothers Elson and Victor.
