Lucille Irene Langlas was born May 21, 1920, in West Amana, the daughter of Philipp Anton and Clara Leichsenring Mittelbach. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1938.

She married Donald C. Langlas June 12, 1943, in South Amana. She was employed over the years with the telephone office in Marengo, the state tax office in Des Moines and ACT in Iowa City.

She enjoyed quilting and embroidering, bowling, reading, baking and her flower garden and plants. She especially enjoyed spoiling her four grandsons.

She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was her own worst critic, always saying she should have done it better. She was generous and giving and will be deservingly rewarded in Heaven.

Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Highland Ridge and especially the staff of Willow Creek.

Langlas is survived by her daughters, Dian (Carlos) Boysen, Hiawatha, and Sandra Reed, North Liberty; grandchildren, Tyler (Anne) Wright, Kansas City, Mo.; Adam Reed, Phoenix, Ariz.; Colin Wright and fiance Aimee, North Liberty, and Logan Reed, Denver, Colo.; a great-grandchild to be born in the autumn of 2014; one brother, George Mittelbach, Amana; a sister-in-law, Donna McGurk, Cedar Rapids, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 2012; her parents and a granddaughter, Jennifer Dawn.
