Louise Schropp, 82

Mass of Christian burial for Louise H. Schropp, 82, Oxford, was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oxford. A longtime Oxford area resident, she died peacefully surrounded by the family she loved on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014.

The Rev. Edmond Dunn officiated at the service.

Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Louise H. Schropp was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Iowa City, the daughter of Francis and Margaret Duffy Kinney. She graduated from Oxford High School.

She married Kenneth “Fritz” Schropp Aug. 4, 1953, at St. Mary’s Church, Oxford. The couple farmed in the Oxford area for many years. She treasured being a stay-at-home mom during that time. In 1975, she was employed with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services with the State of Iowa, retiring in 1997.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Birthday Club. Most important to her was her family.

Schropp is survived by her loving children, Janice Thompson, Cedar Rapids; Randy (Cheryl) Schropp, Iowa City; Jayne (Scott) Brumwell, Solon, and Mike (Stacey) Schropp, Tiffin; 13 grandchildren, Toby, Stephanie and Tyler Thompson, Elijah Beck, Isaac, Elizabeth and Abraham Schropp, Hannah (Jason) Grimm, Jenni and A.J. Brumwell and Logan, Carter and Aiden Schropp, and three great-grandchildren, MacKenna and Bella Thompson and Elliot Grimm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2011; her parents; her granddaughter, Candace Marie Thompson, and 12 brothers and sisters.
