Carroll Dietze, 82

Celebration of life service for Carroll L. “Bud” Dietze, 82, Costa Mesa, Calif., was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Millersburg United Methodist Church, Millersburg. He died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at his home.

The Rev. Michelle Williamson officiated at the service.

He was laid to rest with his parents in the Millersburg Cemetery.

A general memorial found has been established.

Carroll L. “Bud” Dietze was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Millersburg, the son of Louis C. and Beatrice M. (Goodman) Dietze. He grew up in Millersburg and Williamsburg. He was a 1950 graduate of Davenport High School and completed R.O.T.C. training. He served in the Navy in the Pacific during the Korean War. He worked at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Ill., from 1956 to 1969 and the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach, California, from 1970 to 1986. In recent years, he used the nickname Bud.

He liked to tinker with his classic 1955 Oldsmobile 98, was an avid reader, loved history and geography and especially enjoyed Bible studies. He was born again in the Lord.

The family would like to thank the staff of Seacliff Home Care and friends and neighbors for their devotion and care given to Bud.

Dietze will be deeply missed by and is survived by special friends Ron and Ardith Maurel, Fountain Valley, Calif.; brother-in-law, John Massick, and nephew, Charles (Elizabeth) Tower, Davenport; nieces, Jean Tower Richards, Bountiful, Utah; Susan Massick, Davenport; nephew, Phil Massick, Walcott, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Velma Tower Massick.
