Charlotte Cronbaugh, 95

Funeral Mass for Charlotte L. Cronbaugh, 95, Belle Plaine, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine. She died Saturday, April 12, 2014, in Marengo.

The Rev. Brian Shepley and deacon Joe Behounek officiated at the service. Reader was Bob Roe.

Burial was in the Koszta Cemetery, Koszta. Casket bearers were Steven Roe, David Roe, Bill Selken, Josh Cronbaugh, Scott Cronbaugh, Ryan Selken, Ron Selken and Dan Arens. Honorary casket bearers were Molly Weesner, Debra Henry, Lisa Lynch, Jenny Hadenfeldt, Jill Cronbaugh, Emily Schmelzer, Diane Lindaman, Joy Cronbaugh, Julie Bashara and Renae McKay.

Charlotte Leota Cronbaugh was born July 22, 1918, in Belle Plaine, the daughter of Daniel and Emma Liston. She grew up in Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1936.

She was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, where she married Richard Dean Cronbaugh Nov. 8, 1941. He died in 1989. They lived and raised their family on a farm south of Belle Plaine and moved to Belle Plaine in 1974.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker all of her life. She was an accomplished seamstress, designing and sewing clothes for her family. She enjoyed embroidery and making craft items to decorate her home.

Cronbaugh is survived by her children, Deanna (Bob) Roe, Victor; Teresa Selken, Keystone; Cynthia (Jim) Arens, Rodney (Sally) Cronbaugh and Randal (Cathy) Cronbaugh, Belle Plaine; 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald, Edwin, Wilfred and Robert Liston; three sisters, Pauline and Arlene Liston and Kathryn Padera; one son-in-law, Richard Selken, and a granddaughter-in-law, Dena Arens.
