Walter Kraft, 82

Memorial service for Walter H. Kraft, 82, West Amana, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Friday morning, April 11, 2014, at his home.

The Rev. Travis Borkosky officiated at the service.

A memorial fund has been established.

Walter Horst Kraft was born Jan. 17, 1932, in Weiler, Germany, the son of Christopher and Louise Miller Kraft. He received his education in Germany and then attended trade school.

He married Erika Lieber Sept. 1, 1955, in Toronto, Canada. He was a beautiful furniture builder and also a contractor for many years.

He especially enjoyed photography and traveling to different countries.

Kraft is survived by his wife, Erika, West Amana; two sons, Tom and Rudy Kraft, both West Amana; one daughter, Heidy (Ted) Edwards, Amana; a grandchild, Sandy (Dan) Sutherby, Walford, and one brother, Werner Kraft, Heilbrohn, Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kraft.
