Celebration of life memorial service for Leona E. Glandon, 97, Williamsburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North English. She died Friday, March 14, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Edwin Jordan will officiate at the service.

Burial will follow in the North English Cemetery.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Leona Eleanor Glandon was born Nov. 20, 1916, near Eddyville, the daughter of John and Mary Belle (Durbala) Gasper. She attended country schools and received her teaching certificate.

She married Marion William Glandon Jan. 16, 1938, in Oskaloosa. They made their home in Illinois, Washington and Iowa and moved to Williamsburg in 1955.

She enjoyed dancing, baking pies, gardening, canning, reading and spending time with her friends and family.

Glandon is survived by one daughter, Mary Lynn (Roger) Kretchmer, Osage Beach, Mo.; a son-in-law, James Riess, Conroy; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant daughter, Patricia Glandon; one daughter, Nancy Riess; two brothers, Carl and John, and a sister, Helen.
