Mervin Chandler, 60

Funeral service for Mervin H. Chandler, 60, Urbana, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. He died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton.

Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

A celebration of his life followed at Wildhogs, Walford.

Mervin Henry Chandler was born Nov. 23, 1953, the son of Alfred and Marguerite [Owens] Chandler, in Flagstaff, Ariz. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School, Marengo, in 1972. He owned and operated AutoCrafters Body Shop.

He enjoyed racing, hunting, reading and family vacations to Florida. “Swervin Mervin” in the #2 will be remembered as a true legend for his racing career.

Chandler is survived by his significant other of 38 years, Connie Bosier-Chandler; his children, Kia (Rob) Alkema; Nathan (BJ) Chandler; Danielle Chandler; Brad (Shawna) Chandler; Dallas, Adam, Destiney and Dalaney Chandler; sisters, Eula (Bill) Schulz and Donna (Jonathan) Buswell; grandchildren, Tallan, Aubree and Arjen; soon to be expecting Paisley and baby Chandler on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends and faithful companion Lil.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
