Donald Gorsch, 64

Celebration of life service for Donald D. Gorsch, 64, Millersburg, was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Millersburg. He died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at his home.

Burial with military rites was held at Community Cemetery, rural Deep River.

Memorials may be made toward Annette Schaffner’s fight against cancer.

Donald Dean Gorsch was born April 4, 1949, in Sigourney, the son of Lornie E. and Laurene E. (Dhondt) Gorsch. He grew up in the Millersburg community and graduated from Deep River-Millersburg High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war and was a member of the Millersburg American Legion Post 521.

He married Phyllis Montross Sept. 7, 1974, in Millersburg. They lived in Marion until moving to Millersburg in 2009. He worked many years at Burger King in Cedar Rapids.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and baking.

Gorsch is survived by his wife, Phyllis, Millersburg; two sons, Joe Gorsch and Jimmy Gorsch, both Marion; three grandchildren, Bentleigh, Tavian and Jaxon Gorsch; one sister, Barb Adix, Belle Plaine, and one brother, Bill McFadden, Cedar Rapids.

He was prededed in death by his parents; an infant son, Brian, and a sister, Catherine Gorsch.
