Gary McCallister, 69

Celebration of life service for Gary McCallister, 69, North English, was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the English Valley Care Center, North English.

The Rev. Carl Cloeter officiated at the service.

Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Gary McCallister was born Nov. 10, 1944, in Williamsburg, the son of C. Wayne and Eleanora (Schlesselman) McCallister. He attended Pilot Grove country school, Millersburg School, Hawkeye country school and graduated from English Valleys High School in 1962.

He served in the Iowa National Guard, worked for Amana Refrigeration and worked in construction and roofing. He taught piano lessons to the neighbor children when he was younger.

He was a lifelong member of St. Pau Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He enjoyed watching TV and visiting with his friends and family.

McCallister is survived by one brother, Larry (Betty Lou) McCallister, North English; one sister, Judy (Jim) Tinnes, Webster; four nieces; two nephews and 18 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
