Leona Anderson, 91

Funeral service for Leona R. Anderson, 91, Amana, formerly of East Amana, was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. She died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

Church elder Peter Hoehnle officiated at the service.

Burial was in the East Amana Cemetery.

Leona Ruth Anderson was born Dec. 16, 1922, in East Amana, the daughter of Carl and Frances Vanous Bahndorf. She received her education in the Amana schools.

She married Christopher Anderson Feb. 19, 1941, in Marengo. Besides being a wife and mother, she worked for many years at Amana Refrigeration on the assembly line.

In later years, she enjoyed watching her daily soap operas and game shows and doing the circle-a-word books. She especially enjoyed getting pictures of her great-grandsons and visiting with them on the webcam.

The family thanks the caring nurses and doctors in the ICU at Mercy Medical Center for the attention and care given to her.

Anderson is survived by one son, Ron and Mary Anne, Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Jeff (Julie) Anderson, Cedar Rapids, and Jennifer (Greg) Floyd, Kinston, N.C., and two great-grandsons, Everett and Anderson Floyd, Kinston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher, in 1999; her parents; one granddaughter, Julie; three sisters, Edna Lippman, Viola Unkel and Louise Neumann, and six brothers, Henry, William, Ernest, Herbert, Walter and Norman Bahndorf.
