Norene Danskin, 95

Funeral service for Norene V. Danskin, 95, Marengo, was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. She died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Jim Davis officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

Norene Virginia Danskin was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Sumner Township, Iowa County, the daughter of Jack and Emma Mitchell Blaine. She attended rural Iowa County schools.

She married Kenneth R. Danskin Dec. 20, 1938, in Tipton. They were lifelong farmers southwest of Marengo. Following her husband’s death, she moved into Marengo, where she resided since 1996.

She enjoyed her many flower and vegetable gardens, sharing fond memories of her brother and the simpler times. She especially enjoyed her Saturday evening ritual of listening to her favorite music of the Lawrence Welk Show.

Danskin is survived by her nephew, Dr. Robert (Diana) Blaine and their children, La Habra, Calif.; numerous cousins, including Betty Mouchka, Marengo and Mission, Texas, and special friends and neighbors, Mike and Pam Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1992; her parents and a brother, Edwin Blaine, in 1995.
