Parnell Dateline, Michael John (Mick) Gaffey, age 37, of Coralville and formerly Parnell died on Thursday, March 25th, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell with the Rev. David Hitch officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Holbrook, IA. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell on Tuesday, March 30th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary/prayer service at 7:30 PM. A memorial fund has been established for Friends of Old St. Michael’s and the St. Michael’s Cemetery Fund. Michael John (Mick) Gaffey was born on September 13, 1966 in Iowa City, IA, a son of John & Helen O’Meara Gaffey. He attended school in Washington, IA, graduating in 1985, and attended Iowa State University in Ames. Mick farmed near Parnell until recently becoming a mortgage broker. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer, loved traveling, especially where there were beaches, and meeting people. Mick is survived by is parents, John & Helen Gaffey of Williamsburg; six sisters: Christy Gaffey of Arlington, VA; Carrie Gaffey of Evanston, IL; Pam (Paul) Masterson of Witchita, KS; Mary Pat Gaffey of Eureka, KS; Cindy (Garry) Feldman of Deerfield, IL; and Jolene (Michael) Smyth of Arlington Heights, IL. Also surviving are six nieces and nephews: Rachel & Zachary Feldman, John & Daniel Masterson, Maddy & Liam Smyth; a great number of aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
