Celebration of life service for Robert “Bob” D. Evans, 78, North English, formerly of Williamsburg, was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg. He died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Parkview Manor, Wellman.

The Rev. Edwin Jordan officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Casket bearers were Phillip Jones, David Evans, Steve Schropp, Leland Lortz, Matt Tapken and James Gosnell.

Robert “Bob” Daniel Evans was born March 1, 1935, near Williamsburg, the son of Roger and Nina (Row) Evans. He attended rural school near North English, Parnell and North English High School. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 and again from 1961 to 1962.

He married Ruth Ann McNamee Dec. 15, 1961, at St. Timothy Methodist Church, Cedar Falls. He worked at Amana Refrigeration for 35 years. The couple lived in the Williamsburg area for 25 years and the last 13 years they had resided in North English.

He was a member of the North English Methodist Church.

He enjoyed going to flea markets throughout the midwest and meeting new people.

Evans is survived by his wife, Ruth, North English; two sons, Mike (Rhonda) Evans, Tiffin, and Tim Evans (fiancee Leah), Iowa City; two grandchildren, Tasha (Dave) Scott and David Evans; eight great-grandchildren, Michael, Kaitlyn, Raven, Orion and LilliAnne Scott, Kameel, Zoee and Julianna Evans, and one brother, Ronnie (Trudy) Evans, Vinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Weston Evans.
