Harold Kephart, 79

Funeral service for Harold Kephart, 79, South Amana, was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. He died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at his home.

Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy, with military honors.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Essence of Life Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Harold Wayne Kephart was born Sept. 18, 1934, in Conroy, the son of Robert Lee and Helen Olive Bell Kephart. He attended the Conroy school.

He married Anna Marie Baumgartner April 21, 1961, at the Amana Community Church. He served for six years in the United States Army in Korea and Alaska. He was employed at Quaker Oats for 33 years.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. He loved the Yankees and professional wrestling. The western channel on television was a great comfort in later years.

Kephart is survived by his wife, Annie; his children, Robert (Molly) Kephart, South Amana, and Richard (Meri) Kephart, Lithia, Fla.; four grandchildren, Willa and Edgar Kephart, South Amana, and Max and Enric Kephart, Lithia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen-Lois Garringer, and a nephew, Vonnie Garringer.
