Thurs., July 25, 1985Funeral Services For Bridget Kuddes, 81, Were Held
Services for Bridget M. (Mrs. Nor-
man, sr.) Kuddes, 81, Williamsburg,
were held Thursday, July 18, at 10 a.m.
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williams-
burg. The Rev. George Bachman cele-
brated the Mass. Robert Hanson,
Williamsburg, was lector.Mrs. Kuddes died Monday, July 15,
1985, at 10:35 p.m. at St. Luke’s hospi-
tal, Cedar Rapids, of an apparent heart
attack. She had been in failing health
for several months and had been hospi-
talized since July 9.Organist Dorothy (Mrs. John J.)
Donahue, Williamsburg, played and
sang “On Eagles Wings,” “Mother Dear,
Pray for Me,” “In the Garden” and “The
Lord will be My Shepherd.”Ushers were Vincent Driscoll and
Robert Driscoll, both of Williamsburg.Millie (Mrs. William) Hulsberg and
Linda (Mrs. Ralph) Garringer, both of
Williamsburg, were flower attendants.Burial was in St. Michael’s Catholic
cemetery, Holbrook. Casket bearers
were Harold Lehn, Merle and Leon
Spratt, Donald Meade and Wayne Gin-
gerich, all of Holbrook, and Kenneth
Donohoe, Parnell.Born on a farm in Fillmore township,
Iowa County, near Parnell, Sept. 10,
1903, Bridget (Bridgie) Mary Kuddes
was the daughter of Anthony and Jose-
phine Boyle Carney.She attended the rural school in the
area and also the Parnell hgih (sic.) school.
She was a member of St, Joseph’s
Catholic church, Parnell.Her marriage to Norman A. Kuddes
took place June 20, 1933 at St.
Joseph’s Catholic church.For two years after their marriage the
couple farmed near Marion. While
there they were members of St.
Joseph’s Catholic church.In 1935 they moved to a farm near
Holbrook, where they lived until moving
into Williamsburg in December 1970.
at Holbrook they were members of St.
Michael’s Catholic church, and after
moving to Williamsburg they became
members of St. Mary’s Catholic church.She was a member of the Altar and
Rosary society, Williamsburg; the
National Order of Catholic Foresters,
Royal Neighbors and American Legion
Auxiliary, Parnell.She enjoyed being with and doing
things for her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren and had as hobbies sew-
ing reading and playing cards with
friends.Survivors include her husband, Nor-
man; three sons, Norman, jr., Williams-
burg; Harold, Marion; Frank, Coralville;
two daughters, Janice (Mrs. Richard)
Hendrickson, Cedar Rapids; and Mary
(Mrs. Harvey) Horn, Gibson; 16 grand-
children, seven great-grandchildren
and one brother, Thomas Carney,
LaCrosse, Wis.Preceding her in death were her par-
ents; three sisters, Mary and Margaret
Carney, who died when teen-agers, and
Sister Imelda Carney, who died Sept. 9,
1982; and five brothers, Maurice,
Edward, Tony, James and Joseph.
