Marilyn Carpenter, 83

Funeral service for Marilyn L. Carpenter, 83, Buffalo, Wyo., was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel, Buffalo. She died early Friday morning, Dec. 6, at the Amie Holt Care Center, Buffalo.

The Rev. William Dunlap officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.

Memorials may be made to Buffalo Wesleyan Church in care of the Harness Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams, Buffalo, Wyo.

Marilyn Lucinda Carpenter was born Oct. 27, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Clair and Carolyn Howard. She grew up and received her education in Iowa Schools. She graduated from Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids. After high school, she attended Coe College, Cedar Rapids, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She later transferred to Iowa State University, Ames, and also attended the Cedar Rapids Business College.

She married William Carpenter March 18, 1951, in Cedar Rapids. They made their home in Cedar Rapids and Belle Plaine, where she was employed by Burrows Publishing Company prior to the birth of her children.

In 1964, they moved to Victor, where she and her husband owned and operated Victor Printers Inc., They retired in 1989 and moved to LaFeria, Texas, where they lived until December of 1990, when they moved to Buffalo, Wyo. In 2000, they moved to Tulsa, Okla., where they lived until 2003, when they moved back to Buffalo and lived there until her death.

She was a member of the Buffalo Christian Women’s Club, the Jolly Janes Homemakers of Buffalo and attended Buffalo Wesleyan Church. She was a past member of the Victor Baptist Church. She enjoyed activities at the Buffalo Senior Center, was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting and crafts.

Carpenter is survived by her husband, Bill Carpenter, Buffalo; a set of twins, Bradley and Gay Carpenter, Cedar Rapids, and Barbara and Duane Wohlbrandt, Buffalo; one brother, Stephen and Jan Howard, Cass Lake, Minn.; one sister, Betsy Danielson, Ellsworth, and two grandchildren, Jill Ford and Jacy and Wade Buck, all Marion.
