Hazel Lohrer, 93

Funeral Mass for Hazel M. Lohrer, 93, Marengo, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Watkins. She died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha.

The Rev. Craig Steimel officiated at the service.

Burial was in St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery, Watkins.

A memorial fund has been established.

Hazel Mae Lohrer was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Walford, the daughter of Wesley and Lucy Brecht Bartosh. She attended school in Walford.

She married Loyal Lohrer Oct. 22, 1947, in Walford. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She also did housekeeping for others.

In earlier days, she enjoyed fishing. She enjoyed playing cards and going to the casinos. Her constant companion, her dog Stubbie, was never far from her side. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church, Watkins, and the Altar and Rosary Guild.

Lohrer is survived by one daughter, Donna Lohrer, Marengo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1992; her parents; one daughter, Nancy Wagner, in 1988; a granddaughter, Courtney Wagner, in infancy, and three brothers, Bert, Clifford and Harley Bartosh.
