Janet Hladky, 93

Funeral service for Janet O. Hladky, 93, Marengo, formerly of Guernsey, was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at First Presbyterian Church, Marengo. She died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo.

The Rev. Diane Miller officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

Janet Odena Hladky was born June 15, 1920, in Marengo, the daughter of Cecil and Dolly Stucker Dillin. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1938 and then obtained her teaching certificate.

She married Frank Hladky April 15, 1942, in Missouri. She was employed as a telephone operator for several years, then worked at Swift and Company as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Marengo.

Hladky is survived by one son, Dennis “Pete,” Marengo; one daughter, Mitzi Quick, Eldora; five grandchildren, Jari Sinnwell, Julie Quick-Alcorn and John Paul, Mark and Elizabeth Lilla, and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1994; her parents; two sons, Paul and Frankie Hladky; three brothers, John Bruce, Bob and George Dillin, and one sister, Cheribel Schmidt.
