Maxine Shedenhelm, 93

Funeral service for Maxine E. (Burrell) Shedenhelm, 93, Riceville, was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo. She died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at Mitchell County Hospital, Osage, after a fall.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, Riceville, was in charge of arrangements.

Maxine Elizabeth Shedenhelm was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Marengo. She taught school in the rural schools of Iowa County for five years after graduating from Marengo High School.

She married Duane Shedenhelm Jan. 17, 1944.

She enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren and making a birthday cake every year that was truly special.

Raising a big garden and putting it into jars was a big joy to her. She was a wonderful cook and everyone who ate at her table knew she cooked with love. Flowers were everywhere at her home and she enjoyed them from early spring to late fall.

Max enjoyed fishing with the kids and visiting the cabin. She will be dearly missed for her warm hugs and warmth of her presence by all who knew and loved her.

Bless you Grandma Max. We will miss you.

Shedenhelm is survived by her husband of 69 years, Duane; one son and daughter-in-law, Jary and Rebecca; four grandchildren, Jade (Heidi), Jill, Jennifer and Jaqulin, and eight great-grandchildren, Derek, Ryan, Logan, Serena, Grant, Grace, Ty and Jonathan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
