Jean Collingwood, 90

Celebration of life service for Jean J. Collingwood, 90, Williamsburg, was held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg. She died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, surrounded by family at the Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg.

The Rev. James Parks officiated at the service. Organist was Peggy Wardenburg and congregational hymns were “In The Garden,” “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagles Wings.”

Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Honorary and active casket bearers were James Collingwood, Kelly Collingwood, Katie Nester, Carl Nester, Jana Nester, David Kinkead, Faith Kinkead, Mark Brinkman and Brian Schlesselman.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Williamsburg.

Jean Josephine Collingwood was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Plains, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Anna Kozior. She attended school in Pennsylvania.

She married Russell E. Collingwood April 3, 1945, in New Jersey. The couple moved west of Williamsburg, where they farmed.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women.

She enjoyed volunteering, belonging to the Merry Monkey Makers and the Ugly Quilt Group, gardening, doing crafts and especially, spending time with her grandchildren.

Collingwood is survived by one son, Russell (Anne) Collingwood, Williamsburg; one daughter, JoAnn (Charles) Nester, St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren, James Collingwood, Kelly Collingwood, Katie Nester, Carl Nester and Jana Nester; one brother, Stanley Kozior, New Jersey, and special friends of the family, David, Bonnie, Faith Adele and Caroline Kinkead, Williamsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one daughter, Mary Ann; one brother, Andy, and one sister, Mary.
