Stanley Polton, 76

Stanley Sherman Polton, 76, Marengo, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at his home in Marengo after a battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life service was Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Powell Funeral Home, North English, with the Rev. James Bringman officiating. Burial is at the Brethren Cemetery, South English. Visitation was Monday, Oct. 14, at the funeral home.

Stanley Sherman Polton was born Nov. 29, 1936, on a farm northeast of Kinross, the son of Sherman Bryan and Eunice Mae (Ballard) Polton. He grew up in the Kinross area and graduated from Kinross High School in 1954. In 1955, he went to work for Amana Refrigeration, retiring in 1998.

On July 16, 1967, Stanley married Dorothy “Dottie” Carter, at the Kinross Christian Church.

He enjoyed antiques, fishing, hunting and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Dottie, Marengo; two sons, Bryan and wife Kelly, South English, and Vance, Washington; six grandchildren, Amanda, Ayla, John, Jessica, Matt and Mickayla; three great grandchildren, Kiara, Mya and Xavier; a brother-in-law, Bud Schwab, Newton; and his special sweetie GiGi.

He was preceded by his parents and two sisters, Jean Schwab and Dorothy Foubert.

He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
