Paul J. Weber, 86, Keota, formerly of Kinross, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at his home from thymic carcinoma.
A funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Holy Trinity Parish – St. Mary Catholic Church, Keota, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Little Creek Cemetery, rural Kinross. Visitation and wake service were Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Powell Funeral Home, Keota.
Paul was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Clear Creek Township, to John B. and Caecilia (Peiffer) Weber and attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Clear Creek Township. He served in the Army Air Corps from June 1945 until November 1946. Paul then worked at Amana Refrigeration for a few years.
On July 11, 1953, he married Ardys Claypool at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kinross. The couple lived and farmed in the Kinross area until moving to Keota in 1985.
Paul was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the American Legion. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, collecting and repairing clocks and pocket watches, auctions and visiting with anyone and everyone.
Survivors include his wife: Ardys of Keota; nine children, Nancy Feaker, North English, Cindy Weber, Keota, Bill (Jane) Weber, Kinross, Peggy Weber, Keota, Andy (Gail) Weber, Sigourney, Carol (Brian) Engnell, Lynn Center, Ill., Mary (David) Fagen, Keota, Joe Weber, Keota, and Laura (Bryan) Hahn, Sigourney; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Isidore “Doc” (Linda) Weber, Kalona, and Tony (Jane) Weber, Washington; three sisters, Rita (Leon) Vogel, Keota, Martha Kleinmeyer, Iowa City, and Celeste Woltering, Keota; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Weber, Washington, Virginia Weber, Sigourney, and Kathleen Sawyer, Sigourney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David; a daughter in infancy; a sister, Bernadine Conklin, and seven brothers, Norbert, Wilfrid Ed, Luke, Mark, Clete and Clare.
