Celebration of life service for Mary C. Hall, 80, Iowa City, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North English. She died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center, Coralville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.

Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association or Safe Haven of Iowa County animal shelter.

The family wishes to thank Lantern Park and Iowa City Hospice for the care and compassion they provided her in her final days.

Mary Catherine Hall was born March 31, 1933, on the family farm near Ainsworth, the daughter of Glenn A. and Hazel Mae (Kelsey) Anderson. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City.

She married Daniel L. Hall June 19, 1955. The couple were blessed with two children. The couple later divorced.

She later met Russell Prandy, with whom she enjoyed spending the rest of her life. Together, they enjoyed camping, being a Good Sams member and spending the winters in Mesa, Ariz.

She worked as a registered nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and Oaknoll. She especially enjoyed reading, caring for her dachshunds and her years living in and visiting Hawaii.

Hall is survived by her significant other of 37 years, Russell Prandy, Iowa City; one brother, John and Claudia Anderson, Pierre, S.D.; one daughter, Sharon Hall and Kirk Reeder, Ankeny; one son, Greg and Karen Hall, Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Michelle Hall-Trotter, Daniel Hall, David Hall, Steven Hall and Andrew Hall, and Russell’s children, Donald Prandy, Russell Prandy Jr., Michael Prandy and John Prandy, and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Margaret Gipple.
