Merlyn Peters, 95

Graveside funeral service for Merlyn E. Peters, 95, Bussey, was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Liberty Cemetery near Bussey. She died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Pella Regional Health Center.

The Rev. Raymond Doser officiated at the service.

Memorials may be made to the family or the Bussey Community Library and left in care of the Sinnott-Pierschbacher Funeral Home, 1904 E. Ave. North, Lovilia, Iowa 50150.

Merlyn Edith Peters was born Aug. 23, 1917, near Victor, the youngest of three children of William and Rosa (Sparrowgrove) Coover. She attended Conroy Consolidated School and Carson (Iowa Valley) High School, Marengo.

She married Everett (Pete) Peters Nov. 22, 1935, in Rock Island, Ill. Before moving to Bussey in 1950, the couple lived in many different states, including Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. While living in Kansas, they were blessed with their daughter, Sherill.

She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, word search puzzles, reading, attending country music shows at Rathbun Lake and spending time with family and friends.

Peters is survived by her daughter, Sherill and Teddy (Sonny) Spaur, Bussey; three grandchildren, Doug and Marilyn, Bussey; Jeri (Sis) and Garland Ray, Des Moines, and Scott, Chicago, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Brett, Colton, Kelli, Cody, Nick and Ashley, and a niece, Greta Jost, Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Laura Hamilton; one brother, Kenneth Coover, and a niece, Barbara Dean.
