Dorothy Marie Zuber was born April 20, 1917, in Middle Amana, the daughter of William Carl and Emilie Murbach Zuber. She attended the Amana Schools and went to work at the Amana Woolen Mill.

She married William Henry Zuber June 11, 1938, at the Middle Amana Church. The couple moved into the family home and resided there for their entire life. She helped her husband at the Middle Amana General Store.

Later, she became a cook for her brother, Bill Zuber, at The Dugout, Homestead, and became well-known for her delicious cooking. She retired from there at age 83.

She enjoyed music, reading and crossword puzzles. She loved gardening, baking, cooking and Dean Martin. She was a member of the Amana Church Society. Her family was so very important to her and she cherished the time she spent with them, especially cooking big meals on Thursday nights for them. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and knew her.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, and the staff of the Dennis and Donna Oldorf House of Hospice for the loving care of their mother and grandmother.

Zuber is survived by her son, Robert and Mary, Middle Amana; two daughters, Kathy and Bob Schwarting, Middle Amana, and Carol Ann and John Vogt, Marengo; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence and George Schuerer, Amana; one sister-in-law, Connie Zuber, and a step-sister-in-law, Louise Zuber, both Amana, and a step-brother-in-law, Jack and Wuanita Zuber, Hiawatha.
