Thomas Lower, 89

Funeral Mass for Thomas “Leonard” Lower, 89, Williamsburg, was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg. He died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at the English Valley Care Center, North English.

The Rev. Joseph Roost officiated at the service and also served as organist.

Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Parnell. Pall bearers were Tom Lower, Lucas Lower, Nathan Lower, Trent Lower, Tim Lower, Phillip Trimpe, Rodney Trimpe, Randy Dermody, Jason Reynolds and Troy Lower. Honorary pall bearers were Arthur and Marietta Dermody, David and Lela Jennings, Ed and Kathleen Crall, C.D. and Carol Ann Huffman, Gene and Jill Jordan and Bob Pallardy.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Thomas Lower was born Dec. 14, 1923, near Williamsburg, the son of George and Kathryn (Callan) Lower. He attended Parnell School.

He married Rita Mary Malloy July 28, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. The couple had 12 children. She died in 1988.

He married Rozella Reinert Feb. 24, 1990, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Parnell.

He was a lifelong farmer. He truly enjoyed raising his cattle and attending livestock sales.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and had served on the board of directors for the Parnell School.

Lower is survived by his wife, Rose, Williamsburg; eight children, George and Mary Lower, Chesterfield, Mo.; John and Deb Lower, Williamsburg; Jeanne and William Reynolds, Las Vegas, Nev.; Raymond and Jana Lower, Williamsburg; Mary and Larry Dermody, Parnell; Maureen and Matt Trimpe, Williamsburg; Jim and Cindy Lower, Parnell, and Margie and Chuck Harwood, Phoenix, Ariz.; one step-son, Steve and Darlene Reinert, Davenport; one step-daughter, Pam Reinert, Saginaw, Mich.; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; two sons, Francis and Patrick; two daughters, Shirley and Joann Marie; one brother, Joseph Lower; one sister, Veda Hanson; one daughter-in-law, Diane Lower, and a son-in-law, Russ Mobley.
