Patricia Garringer, 60

Funeral Mass for Patricia A. Garringer, 60, Millersburg, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg. She died Friday, May 17, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, after a sudden illness.

The Rev. Joseph Roost officiated at the service and served as organist. Hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagles Wings” and “Be Not Afraid.”

Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Casket bearers were Mitch Fick, Bryson Garringer, Lance Garringer, Trenton Garringer, Austin Hilligas, Brandon Dietrich and Alex Combs.

Memorials may be made to the Millersburg Betterment Committee.

Patricia Anne Garringer was born July 18, 1952, at Williamsburg, the daughter of James Benton “Doc” and Anne (Welsh) Garringer. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1972. She worked at the Iowa County Care Facility and Hillside Estate for many years and most recently at Highland Ridge Presbyterian Home, Williamsburg.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, and the Red Hats. She enjoyed helping with the social activities and her special friendships in the Millersburg community. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Garringer is survived by her mother, Anne, Williamsburg; three brothers, Kenny Garringer, Ray and Fonda Garringer and Paul and Chris Garringer, all Williamsburg; two sisters, Mary and Don Grimm, Williamsburg, and Jan and Steve Fick, Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Mitch Fick, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Rachel Fick, Kansas City, Mo.; Bryson and Annie Garringer, Marion; Lance Garringer, Savannah, Ga.; Austin Hilligas, Cedar Rapids; Bree Garringer, Ashley and Brandon Dietrich, Trenton Garringer and Anna Garringer, all Williamsburg; a great-niece, Kara Dietrich, Williamsburg, and a special friend, Kay Allison, Millersburg.

She was preceded in death by her father.
