Nancy Kosiba, 78

Celebration of life service for Nancy L. Kosiba, 78, Amana, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. She died very peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Colonial Manor, Amana.

The Rev. James Parks officiated at the service.

Burial was at the Edgar County Cemetery, Paris, Ill., Tuesday, April 23.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Williamsburg.

Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg, was in charge of local services.

Nancy Louise Kosiba was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Richard Winfield and Rachel Louise (Huffman) Mercer. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in West Virginia and from DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind. She was in the Delta Gamma sorority at DePauw. She lived most of her life in Parkersburg, W.Va., where she was a French and English teacher for many years. She was also active in the Junior League and her church.

She married Joseph T. Kosiba in February 1997 in Parkersburg, W.Va. They truly enjoyed spending time together, traveling, praying, singing and dancing. She had a spiritual gift for hospitality and always knew how to have fun. The couple moved to Highland Ridge Presbyterian Home, Williamsburg, in April 2008, then moved to Lakeview Village, Amana, in 2012.

Kosiba is survived by her husband, Joe, Amana; one daughter, Laura Mercer Rice, Cambridge, Mass.; one sister, Brenda and Wayne Giddings, Iowa City; one niece, Catherine and Bond Shymansky, Milwaukee, Wis., and one nephew, Dwight and Lorinda Cruikshank, Columbia, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
