Joyce Mumm, 77

Funeral service for Joyce A. Mumm, 77, Williamsburg, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa city.

The Rev. Carl Cloeter officiated at the service.
Burial was in Pilot Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Joyce Ann Mumm was born June 18, 1935, in Williamsburg, the daughter of Carl Elmer and Mathilda Rose Hunzelman Martinson. She attended Hilton Consolidated School, Conroy.

She married Dwight Mumm Sept. 7, 1950, in Knoxville. She assisted her husband on the farm, raised her children and also worked as a waitress at the Landmark Restaurant and Colony Haus. She also worked at Amana Refrigeration for several years.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and bird watching. She liked to travel and camp. She frequently would meet up with the Colony Haus girls, enjoyed a cup of coffee and a meal with her siblings and also went to coffee with her best friend Leo Lortz. In quiet moments, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and texting.

Mumm is survived by her children, Les and Wanda Mumm, Eureka,Mont.; Steve and Paula Mumm, Urbandale; Julie and Mike Bodkins, Altoona, and Jeff and Cindy Mumm, Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy Mumm, Marion; Allicia Mumm, Seattle, Wash.; Lindsay Willard, Apple Valley, Minn.; Sean and Natasha Mumm, Toronto, Canada; Capt. Dustin Willard, Beale Air Force Base, Calif.; Lindsay and Jason Toenges, Katy, Texas; Tina Mumm, Cedar Rapids; Kyle Bodkins, Minneapolis, Minn.; Ashley Mumm, Cedar Rapids, and Jarred Mumm, Dubuque; three great-grandchildren, Hayden and Kayla Toenges, Katy, and Jackson Wissink, Seattle, Wash.; siblings, Merlyn Martinson, Marengo; Milford and Nancy Martinson, Williamsburg, and Leona and Luke Loyd, Cedar Rapids, and two sisters-in-law, Irene Siems, Amana, and Marcella Martinson, Marion.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Irvin Martinson, and one sister, Norma Siems.
