Rosemary Bailey, 86, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center in Monticello. A celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. Pastor Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Private family burial will be at a later date.

Rosemary Mable Bailey was born July 11, 1926, in Jones County, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Dubuque with a major in Music and a minor in English. She taught school in Conroy and West Branch and was a secretary for the heart lab at the University of Iowa Hospital. On Aug. 7, 1948, Rosemary and John Bailey were united in marriage in Anamosa, Iowa. Rosemary was a member of the First Congregational United Methodist Church in Anamosa, the church choir, Paint-n-Pallet club, J.O.Y. group, Ophelian club as well as Glee Club at Dubuque. She was an avid reader and loved history and politics. She treasured most the time she was given to spend with her family and loved ones. She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.

Surviving are her husband, John Lewis Bailey M.D.; sons, William (Teresa Wahl) of Sioux City, Brian (Theresa Shipley) of Indianola and Philip of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Arra (Frederick) Katona, Catherina (Nicholas) Krehbiel, Jason, Matthew, Alex, Shawna and Hayden Bailey, Holly (Kelly) Hulsebus, Sean (Aslynn) Maudlin, Gabrielle Maudlin and Kaitlynn Bradish; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Jane Gray Allen and D. Lorraine (Cookie) Gray.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Esther (VanSlyke) Gray; brothers, Charles, Stewart, David and Keith Gray; and granddaughter, Mimi.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Camp Courageous, the United Methodist Church in Anamosa or donor’s choice.
