Dolores O'Donnell Healy of Rock Island, died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School or to the St. Ambrose University Athletic Department.

Dolores O'Donnell was born in Williamsburg, Iowa, a daughter of William J. and Esther Mc Gillicuddy O'Donnell.

She served in the U.S. Navy as a WAVE during WW II. Dolores married Joseph T. Healy on Sept. 19, 1946, in Rock Island.

She worked at the Rock Island Post Office, but then transferred to the Rock Island Arsenal, where she worked for 19 years. She retired in 1982.

Dolores is a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She enjoyed many hobbies, including, biking, golfing, walking and was an avid sports fan. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved Arizona and enjoyed her winter home and friends there for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph; sons and daughters-in-laws, Bill and Evelyn Healy, Rock Island, Jim and Suzanne Healy, Davenport and Joe and Tammie Healy, Rock Island; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Richard Lemke, Rock Island; grandchildren, William J., John and David Healy, Shane and Shawn Boyle, Tiffany Healy Jauch and David Shuman; and great grandchildren, Killian, Riley, Rowan, Caedmon and Liam Jauch, Harper Healy, and Duncan and Thatcher Healy. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William and Donald O’Donnell; and her sister, Dorothy O'Donnell.
