Leonard Malloy, 79

Funeral Mass for Leonard J. Malloy, 79, Pasadena, Calif., was held Saturday, March 9, at Assumption Catholic Church, Pasadena. He died peacefully in his home surrounded by family March 3, 2013.

Leonard Joseph Malloy was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Holbrook, the youngest of nine children of John and Mary [Jones] Malloy. He was raised in Holbrook, attended Parnell High School and graduated from St. Ambrose College, Davenport.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 at Fort Riley, Kan.

He married Kay Brady of Keswick and after his time in the military, they moved to Pasadena and raised their six children.

Upon retiring from AMICA Insurance Company after 30 years, he volunteered for many years at the Pasadena Police Department in the first offenders program.

He had a polite nature, strong counseling and listening skills and deep inegrity. His lie was well lived and well loved. He was a man of tremendous courage, remarkable strength and possessed a powerful spirit.

Malloy is survived by his wife, Kay; their children, Timothy, Terry, Brady, Molly and Katie; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Agnes (Mrs. Alfred) McDonald, Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Meghan; five brothers, Gerald, James, William, John and Vincent, and two sisters, Ellen Kinney and Rita Lower.
