Celebration of life service for Roy D. Moffit, 51, Parnell, was held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. He died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in Parnell.

Elder Alan Trumpold officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Piersol Cemetery, rural North English. Casket bearers were William Moffit, Mack Moffit, Dave Shepard, Gene Schindler, Travis Timm and Jason Waters.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Roy Dale Moffit was born Feb. 13, 1962, in Grinnell, the son of Harold and Judith Jo (Knipfer) Moffit. He attended school in the Cedar Rapids area. He recently attended Kirkwood Community College, where he received his CDL. He was so proud of this accomplishment. He was a truck driver for L.L. Pelling, North Liberty, and enjoyed spending time with his son, hunting, fishing, boating, camping and horseback riding.

Moffit is survived by his partner, Annette Van Thournout, Parnell; one son, Brayden Moffit, Sigourney; his father, Harold and Delilah Moffit, Central City; one brother, William Moffit, Fairfax; one nephew, Mack Moffit, Fairfax; one stepsister, Debra and John Zingg, Spokane, Wash.; Annette’s parents, Albert and Elaine Van Thournout Sr., Victor; his best friend, Dave and Lori, Shepard, Ladora, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
