Ruby Kellogg, 88

Ruby F. Kellogg, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center, Keystone, where she had been a resident since May 2001.

Private graveside services were held at the Garrison Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the Keystone Nursing Care Center.

Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone, was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Fae Kellogg was born July 24, 1924, in Vinton, the daughter of Marion Russell and Helen (Henkle) Alcott. On March 9, 1942, she married Herbert “Herby” Kellog in Kahoka, Mo., in a double wedding with her brother, Harold Alcott, to his wife, Doris.

The couple resided in the Keystone-Dysart area for 57 years. He preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2002.

She had been a member of the United Methodist Church, Garrison.

Her family expresses special thanks to the staff and extended family for their care and caring, as well as to Hospice Compassus.

Kellogg is survived by her daughters, Norma and Ralph Cole, Phoenix, Ariz., and Barbara and Garold Lerch, Norway; six grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Harold Alcott, Blairstown.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Mabel Hale; one great-grandson, Michael Cole, and sisters, Lillian Jones and Florence Thompson.
