Ronald Bressler, 65

Celebration of life memorial service for Ronald L. Bressler, 65, Williamsburg, was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. He died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Gary VanHeuklon officiated at the service.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Ronald Lee Bressler was born Nov. 24, 1947, in Inyokern, Calif., the son of Whitner and Winnagene (Inman) Bressler. He attended Franklin School and Washington High School, Cedar Rapids.

He married Lois Stoddard Sept. 4, 2001, in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Wilson’s, Cedar Rapids, for over 20 years.

He enjoyed spending time with children, writing music and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

At age 15 he played drums for Herb Alpert and was later inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Bressler is survived by his wife, Lois, Williamsburg; one son, Todd and Michelle Bressler, Long Beach, Calif.; one granddaughter, Chloe Bressler; his mother, Winnagene Caslavka, Marion; two step-children, Tracie and Dave Kubas, Williamsburg, and Chad Von Lienen, Conroy, and eight step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.
