Marlene Janette Clubb was born Jan. 25, 1935, near North English, the daughter of Cloyd and Catherine Van Dee Johnston.

She married Raymond Clubb Sept. 13, 1952. Over the years, she worked at the North English Care Center, the Hometown Market in Keswick and was a full-time mother to nine children. She also devoted herself to provide piano lessons to hundreds of children throughout her life.

At age 9, she was not tall enough to reach the organ pedals. So with the help of her mother, she played the keys and her mother operated the pedals each Sunday in church. She served as the organist for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Keswick, and later for St. Joseph Catholic Church, North English.

Music was her passion. She played for countless weddings and funerals and also accompanied students for solo contests. She even shared this God-given talent with residents of several nursing homes and delighted in playing with the Farm Bureau Kitchen Band.

She was a faith-filled person who refused to gossip about others. She led by example through honesty, hard work and caring for her family above herself.

Clubb is survived by her mother, Catherine Johnston, North English; six sons, Raymond and Marcia Clubb, Patrick and Mary Ellen Clubb, Jeff and Helen Clubb, all Keswick; Dennis Clubb, Marion; Cloyd and Kimberly Clubb, What Cheer; Anthony and Holly Clubb, North Liberty; three daughters, Connie Zimmerman and Mike Quinn, Keswick; Mary Norland, Williamsburg; Regina and Tristan Garber, What Cheer; two brothers, Berl and Florence Johnston, Keswick, and Paul and Kaleen Johnston, Virginia; five sisters, Clarene Krumm, Keswick; Patricia and Robert Leer, Texas; Judy and John Andrews, Colorado; Monica and Greg Hoehne, North Carolina, and Marian and Rick Bethke, Keswick; her legacy will also be cherished by 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her father; two sons-in-law, Jack Zimmerman and Arden Norland; one grandson, Zachary Clubb, and one great-grandson, Emmett Fineran.
