Pauline I. Schinckel, 85, of Hartwick, Iowa died on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa after a short illness.

A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor with Rev. Brian Shepley officiating.

Organist was Verabeth Bricker; vocalists, Brad Barker and Anna Upah; casket bearers were Vicki York, Brian Barker, Janet Barker, Troy Barker, Brad Barker, Chuck Van Thournout, Jerry Henning and Lynn Sleeuwenhoek. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Victor.

Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor. A rosary was recited.

Pauline was born on January 27, 1927, to Emil and Grace Martens DeRycke in rural Hartwick.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. She attended and graduated from Hartwick High School with the class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Marvin Schinckel on September 18, 1948, and to this union one daughter was born. They farmed on the family century farm south of Hartwick.

Pauline's favorite hobbies were maintaining her yard, and visiting with family and friends.

Pauline is survived by her husband, Marvin of 64 years; daughter, Bonnie (Bob) Barker of Victor; grandchildren, Vicki (Brian) York of Victor, Brian (Whitney) Barker of Victor, Janet Barker of Cedar Rapids, Troy Barker of Victor, Brad Barker of Victor; and her great-grandchildren, Grace and Kayla York both of Victor.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
