Leslie Dietze, 65

Funeral services for Leslie P. “Red” Dietze, 65, Marengo, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at First United Methodist Church, Marengo. He died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Parkview Manor, Wellman.

Burial was in Sumner Township Cemetery, Ladora, with military honors.

A memorial fund has been established.

Leslie Paul Dietze was born July 2, 1947, in Williamsburg, the son of Paul L. and Gladys E. Lutz Dietze. He attended HLV Schools and later received his GED. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He married Linda Stephens Oct. 3, 1970, in Ladora. He was a repairman for Amana Refrigeration for 35 years.

He was a member of the N.D.Q.S.A. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed camping with his family.

He was a jolly, good-spirited man and he engaged in horseplay with his family and friends whenever the occasion arose.

Dietze is survived by his wife, Linda; one son, William and Connie, Luzerne; two daughters, Susan and Dale Kaster, DeWitt, and Lisa Dietze, Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Shauntel and Ben Wagner, Brittany Roman, Joshua Roman, Zach and Catie Reynolds, Kaitlyn and Shawn Reynolds, Katie Blake and Kaylee Maxwell; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rick and Katy Dietze and Reggie and Linda Dietze, all Victor, and four sisters, Judy and Jerri Demerval, Kathy and Maury Hartz and Becky and Dean Schmuecker, all Marengo, and Brenda and Mike McCammant, Ladora.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Matthew Roman; a sister-in-law, Elaine Dietze, and a brother-in-law, Richard Bringmann.
