Graveside services for Orlin J. “Oscar” Kurth, 87, Marengo, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Marengo Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo.

Orlin Junior ‘Oscar’ Kurth was born April 18, 1925, in Marengo, the son of Verna William and Florence
Kanke Kurth. He attended school in Marengo.

He was employed with various businesses over the years, including Solar Homes and Ratzel Furniture, Marengo. He had also worked for the Marengo Cemetery.

Kurth is survived by three brothers, William and Doris Kurth, Marengo; Lyle and Carol Kurth, Robins, and Robert and Sylvia Kurth, Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Naomi and Elmer Krakow and Dorothy and George Krakow, all Marengo, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maxine Slaymaker, and a brother-in-law, Gerald Slaymaker.
