Forrest Hollopeter, 84

Funeral services for Forrest D. “Bud” Hollopeter, 84, Ladora, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Marengo Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Jim Davis officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Ohio Cemetery, rural Ladora, with military honors.

Memorials may be made to the Ladora Fire Department and Ladora First Responders.

Forrest Dean Hollopeter was born May 14, 1928, in rural Ladora, the son of Charles Oscar and Laura Ida Slaymaker Hollopeter. He graduated from Ladora High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He married Beatrice Van Blaricom Sept. 12, 1952, at Zion Reformed Church, rural Millersburg. He was a farmer for his entire life in the Ladora area.

He enjoyed auctions, deer and pheasant hunting, as well as farming. He especially enjoyed conversing with all his neighbors and friends.

He was a member of the Ohio Methodist Church, rural Ladora, and a past member of the Ladora American Legion.

Hollopeter is survived by his wife, Beatrice; one son, Larry, Ladora; two daughters, Susan and Jim Johnson, Ladora, and Patsy and Jerry Imhoff, Marengo; four grandchildren, Eric Johnson, Tiffin; Brandy and Troy Enochson, Marengo; Matt Imhoff, Marengo, and Cindy Johnson, Changzhou, China; two great-grandchildren, Beau Enochson, Ames, and Brice Enochson, Marengo; one sister, Betty Hollopeter, Ladora; two brothers, Charles and Jo, Williamsburg, and Floyd “Bill,” Ladora; a sister-in-law, Dolores Hollopeter, Victor, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Frank, and two sisters, Hazel and Mary Hollopeter, and one sister-in-law, Mardean Hollopeter.
