Funeral services for Sylvia M. Waline, 62, Brooklyn, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Deep River. She died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Grinnell Regional Medical Hospice Center.

The Rev. Paul Nus officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Guernsey Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Sylvia Mae Waline was born Oct. 20, 1949, in Deep River, the daughter of Mern Ranfeld and Clara Schlesselman. She attended Poweshiek country schools and graduated from the Montezuma school in 1967.

She married Marvin Waline May 23, 1970, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, she worked for General Telephone, Grinnell, for seven years.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Deep River. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and creating various custom crafts and selling them on eBay all over the country. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her granddaughter.

Waline is survived by her husband, Marvin; two daughters, Kathy and Dustin Langreck, Blairstown, and Jane Waline, Victor; one granddaughter, Emily Waline; two brothers, Melvin and Mary Ranfeld, Deep River, and Randy and Mary Ranfeld, Montezuma; two sisters, Inez and Don Scott, Brooklyn, and Merna and Doug Duffus, Grinnell, and a sister-in-law, Donna (Ranfeld) and Glenn Ratcliff, Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harvey Johnston and Larry Ranfeld, and a sister-in-law, Mabel Johnston.
