Mass of Christian burial for Marjorie J. Gingerich, 85, Williamsburg, formerly of Parnell, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg. She died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Joseph Roost officiated at the service.

Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Holbrook.

Memorials may be made for St. Michael’s Cemetery, Holbrook.

Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona, was in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Jean Gingerich was born July 30, 1927, in Iowa City, the daughter of Francis W. Sr. and Bertha Ann (Bauer) Sueppel. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School and Mercy Nursing School in 1948.

She married Wayne “Beaner” Gingerich April 21, 1955, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Iowa City.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Holbrook; St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg; the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary’s; the National Order of Forresters and the Mercy Nurse’s Alumni Association.

She enjoyed cross stitch, word puzzles and Hawkeye football. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.

Gingerich is survived by four children, Debra and Jerry Crouch, New London; Michael Gingerich, Riverside; Susan and Terry Jones, Williamsburg, and Mark and Lyn Gingerich, Mt. Zion, Ill.; one daughter-in-law, Angie (Rodney) Gingerich-Steckly, Kalona; eight grandchildren, Joseph and Joshua Crouch, Paige and Nate Jones, Benjamin Gingerich, Molly, Noah and Oliva Gingerich; one sister, Doris Gerot, Iowa City, and one brother, Robert and Laurine Sueppel, Marion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2002; one son, Scott, in 2007; one brother, Francis “Bud” Sueppel Jr. and one sister, Mary Fulmer.
