Celebration of life service for Neva L. Hershberger, 85, Wellman, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Powell Funeral Home, Wellman. She died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Parkview Manor, Wellman.

The Rev. Herb Yoder officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Washington County Hospice and Mennonite Board of Missions.

Neva Lou Hershberger was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Moundridge, Kan., the daughter of Ezra and Ruth (Hawkey) Jantz. She graduated from the Hesston Academy in 1944.

She married Bernard M. Hershberger Sept. 15, 1946, in Newton, Kan. They made their home in Wellman where she worked as a bookkeeper at Herman’s Feed and Grain.

She was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church. She served as the historian for the Iowa Nebraska Conference from 1977 to 1986. She was a member of he Archives of Iowa, Mennonite Museum Archives, Mennonite Historial Society and the Wellman Heritage Society.

Hershberger is survived by three children, Bernard J. and Janet Hershberger, Marengo; Gloria Hershberger, Aurora, Colo., and Rita and Bob Trimpe, Williamsburg.; five grandchildren, Bradley and Michelle Hershberger, Urbandale; Angela and Jadon Klaver, Des Moines; Brian and Stephanie Tadlock, Ft. Dodge; Cal and Jessica Trimpe, Williamsburg, and Cam Trimpe, Las Vegas, Nev.; five great-grandchildren, Kate and Sara Hershberger, Ethan, Will and Adam Trimpe, and one sister, Nona Snyder, Hesston, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, Earl Jantz, Melvin Jantz, Wayne Jantz and Paul Jantz, and two sisters, Nina Jantz and Ruth Orpin.
