Memorial services for Rose M. Blount, 75, High Amana, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. She died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Marengo Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Katie Dawson officiated at the service.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg.

A memorial fund has been established.

Rose Marie Blount was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Iowa City, the daughter of Wesley and Elizabeth Muesse Parson. She graduated from Amana High School in 1956.

She married Wayne T. Blount in 1958 in Marengo. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, she was employed as a waitress for 52 years, working at the Homestead Inn, the Colony Inn, Zuber’s Restaurant and 40 of those 52 years at the Ox Yoke Inn.

She enjoyed traveling and collecting. She loved being with her family and friends and trips to Adventureland.

She also volunteered at the Amana Elementary School, the American Cancer Society and was an Avon representative for many years.

Blount is survived by her husband, Wayne; one daughter, Tamara and Dave Schwendinger, Williamsburg; two sons, Ronald and Paula, East Amana, and Daniel, High Amana; five grandchildren, Rosie Blount, Beth and Mark Ohl, Abby and Scott Birkett, Ashley and Tim Grimm and Ryan Klein; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Price, Aidan Ohl and Anabella Grimm, and her siblings, Betty and Leroy Graesser, Middle Amana; William Parson, Marengo, and Mary Conway, Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leroy Parson, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Parson.
