Funeral services for Gerald G. Morse, 81, Muscatine, formerly of Millersburg, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at New Hope United Methodist Church, Muscatine. He died Aug. 10, 2012.

The Rev. David Morris officiated at the service.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Casket bearers were Nathan Morse, Tanner McLaughlin, Karli Morse, Travis McLaughlin, Jessica Tubbs and Clayton Warner.

George M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Gene Morse was born July 24, 1931, in Keswick, the son of Lewis and Wanda (Fisch) Morse. He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1949.

He married Patricia Allen Oct. 1, 1952, at the Methodist Church, Wellman. In 1957 he graduated from the University of Iowa with a CPA degree.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1953. He worked for Grain Processing for 35 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and was known for some of the tallest tomato plants and a beautiful rose bed in front of his house. He found it hard to resist a good bargain while he was shopping. He enjoyed playing the stock market and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye sports fan.

Morse is survived by his wife, Patricia, Muscatine; two sons, Tony L. and Allene Morse and Loren L. and Jolene Morse; one daughter, Tammy and Rusty McLaughlin; nine grandchildren, Nathan and Jackie Morse; Jessica and Chad Tubbs, Travis McLaughlin, Tanner McLaughlin, Jenna McLaughlin, Karli Morse, Brooke and Chad Carlson, Emily Warner and Clayton Warner; two great-grandchildren, Kali Jean Morse and Wyatt Carlson; two sisters, Corrine Tandy and Eunice Holderness, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin, and two nieces.
