Memorial services for Christopher L. Myers, 54, Amana, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at his home.

The Rev. Connie Spitzack officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Amana Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society and Safe Haven of Iowa County.

Christopher Lee Myers was born Feb. 24, 1958, in Iowa City, the son of Robert and LouAnn Medalen Meyers. He graduated from West High School, Iowa City, in 1976.

He married Ginger Hoppe Feb. 10, 1984, in Amana.

He began his business career as co-owner and operator of Happy Joe’s Pizza, Coralville. He and his co-owners opened two additional locations in Fort Madison and Evansville, Ind. He was then employed with Means Services in the sales department.

In 1987, he joined the family business, Krauss Furniture and Clocks, mastering the craft of furniture making. In 2008, he started his own business, Oscar’s Wood Products, which he operated until his death.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, shooting, skiing and watersports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his pets. A good friend to all, he left a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Myers is survived by his wife, Ginger; his parents, Robert and LouAnn Myers, Tiffin; one brother, Mark and Deborah Myers, Iowa City; his mother-in-law, Virginia Hoppe, Amana; brother-in-law, Robert and Emilie Hoppe, West Amana; nephew, Charlie Myers, North Liberty; nieces and nephew, Anna, Kathryn and John Hoppe; grand-niece, Ruby Myers; a step-niece, Jessica and Roddy Stroud, Iowa City; a step-nephew, Nicholas and Lisa Stroud, Gainesville, Fla., and pets, Radar, Elvis and Jynx.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David, in 1985, and his father-in-law, John Hoppe, in 1991.
