Funeral services for Phyllis Dahlhauser, 67, Brooklyn, were held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Victor. She joined her heavenly Father Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at the Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn.

The Rev. Nick Huelsman officiated at the service. Organist was Marna Mohr.

Graveside services followed at 2:30 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery, Algona.

Smith Funeral Home, Victor, was in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis Dahlhauser was born June 20, 1945, the daughter of Martin and Elda Rinderknecht Bayer, at the family farm home near Guernsey. She was baptized in the faith as an infant and was confirmed in 1959. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School until the eighth grade and then transferred to the Guernsey High School. She later attended Victor High School where she graduated in 1963. Following her graduation, she received a business degree from AIB, Des Moines.

She married B. John Dahlhauser Aug. 20, 1966. She was employed by Story-Kenworthy and later by the Pitney Bowes Company. While working with Pitney Bowes she was promoted to an office manager and worked in Cincinnati, Ohio; Detroit, Mich., and Colton, Calif., as a troubleshooter.

She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1976 but continued to work for several years.

She and her husband shared a lovely marriage for 23 years until his death in 1989. After he died, she moved to Altoona and in 2000 she moved to Brooklyn Community Estates.

Her Christian faith was very important to her and she was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Des Moines, and later transferred her membership to St. John’s Lutheran Church near Victor. She shared her Christian faith with many of her friends and the residents of Brooklyn Community Estates. As a Christian she was very thankful for the life that the Lord gave her, especially for the peace of the Lord that lived with her. Spending time with family and friends was very important to her.

Dahlhauser is survived by one son, Sean Dahlhauser, Meservey; one granddaughter, Kelli Dahlhauser, Banning, Calif.; two brothers, Marty and Betty Bayer, Guernsey, and Delmar and Rose Bayer, Victor, and five sisters, Pearl and Arlo Suhr, Correctionville; Dori and Marv Stanek, Walford; Violet Hall, Blairstown; Marine Keys, Ladora, and Lucy and Jim Tuttle, Altoona.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn daughter, Joelle Ruth, and one sister, Linda Mortell.
