Connie Smith, 70, Victor, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.
A private family graveside service will be held with Dennis Smith officiating.

A memorial fund has been established.

Smith Funeral Home, Victor, was in charge of arrangments.

Connie Smith was born March 21, 1942, in rural Keokuk County, the daughter of George and Darlene Smith. She was raised in Ladora and graduated from Ladora High School in 1960.

She married Merle Smith June 26, 1960, at St. James Lutheran Church, Victor. The couple owned and operated a grain and livestock farm south of Victor.

She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and raising sheltie puppies.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo.

Smith is survived by her mother, Darlene; sons, Neal and Paula Smith and David and Tara Smith; one sister, Bonnie and Jim Newville; one brother, Jim and Edith Smith; grandchildren, Jonathan, Caitlin, Jack and Jonah and a good family friend, Connie Sue Boerjan.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.
